The county's tobacco use prevention coordinator is happy to offer you the opportunity to come to a virtual training about young people and vaping. This training will be provided by Bruce Baldwin, who has more than 20 years of experience working with youth to help prevent, and treat, tobacco and nicotine addiction. There will be a family input meeting on Tuesday, March 15, regarding student achievement, unmet needs, and items to include in our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). This is your chance to make sure we hear your opinions about what you'd like to see in our district that will have a positive impact on students. The meeting will be in-person in the district office board room, and we will stream it using Google Meet as well. People streaming will be able to tell us their thoughts and ask questions as well as those in attendance. We hope you will consider joining us. Members of the public are also invited to submit written comments regarding the specific actions and expenditures proposed in the LCAP. Today, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated how it determines what constitutes transmission levels of COVID-19. According to their updated website, “Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.” Siskiyou County is currently in the “High” level. Our policies state that we will follow the guidelines released by the CDC and the CA Department of Public Health (CDPH). Because our policy is to follow the recommendations of the CDC and the CDPH, the moves by the CDC and the governor will largely determine how we move forward with our COVID protocols. We will keep our educational partners informed of the state-level changes and how they may affect our own decisions.

At-home test kits are available for students from your school's office. Currently, the limit is one box (two tests in the box) per student. If you are interested, please contact your child's school office, and we can arrange to send it home or have someone come pick it up.
