Now that we are back in-person and students are staying into the afternoon, it's a good time to review the COVID symptom protocol in place across our county. The document at this link is a helpful flowchart if your child experiences symptoms. Please check with your child's school with questions. https://5il.co/ql07

We remain on track to open for full in-person learning with the continuing option for distance learning on Monday, March 8. The board has hired additional staff members to keep our class sizes small enough to meet the state guidelines regarding physical distancing. All students will eat their snack and lunch outdoors whenever the weather permits. Be sure to send your child with a jacket because we’ll be eating outside if at all possible. The state public health guidelines recommend students eat in classrooms if they are unable to eat outside. We expect to be able to eat outside at least 95% of the time. On days when it is simply too stormy or cold to eat outside, students will eat in the classrooms, and each classroom will be able to move volunteer students onto chairs in the hallway outside the class so the space between students while eating can be maximized. Other schools that do this report that students are excited to be the ones to volunteer to eat in the hallways. Parents may choose to sign their children out during lunch, especially on extremely stormy or cold days, if they do not want their children eating in the classroom. If you choose this option, please return your child to school in time for afternoon classes. We ventilate our classrooms with a combination of open windows, fans, and air purifiers. When deployed in classrooms, fans push air out the windows and do not blow air across anyone’s face. Per state public health guidelines, we continue to limit sharing of items and materials to the extent practicable. If items must be shared, they’re used by one classroom group at a time and are disinfected between uses.

This is an update regarding the latest quarantine protocols from the department of public health. Vaccinated persons with an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria: 1. Are fully vaccinated (i.e., ≥2 weeks following receipt of the second dose in a 2-dose series, or ≥2 weeks following receipt of one dose of a single-dose vaccine) 2. Are within 3 months following receipt of the last dose in the series 3. Have remained asymptomatic since the current COVID-19 exposure Fully vaccinated persons who do not quarantine should still watch for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days following an exposure. If they experience symptoms, they should be clinically evaluated for COVID-19, including SARS-CoV-2 testing, if indicated. In addition, they should respond to calls or texts from their local health department and engage in contact tracing efforts if requested to do so. Persons who do not meet all 3 of the above criteria should continue to follow current CDPH quarantine guidance after exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. That guidance is written below for your convenience: All asymptomatic close contacts (within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) may discontinue quarantine after Day 10 from the date of last exposure with or without testing.
